Google rolled out verification badges on profiles to verifying people on Google+ today, but nobody knows how to get their Google+ profile verified by Google except Google+ team members.Google said Profile verification badges only focused on verifying public figures, celebrities, and people who have been added to a large number of Circles right now,but the truth is that even those people been verified by Google don’t know how it happens.
Google+ celebrity Robert Scoble update a post to talk about this question few hours ago,he said his account has been verified, but Google didn’t ask him if that was OK. Google also didn’t ask him if he had any ID. Robert Scoble didn’t know how his profile been verified before they turned it on.So Google+ Profile verification badges is totally a Black box operation,Google can add a verification badges to those people’s profile page if they think they are the real one. Here is Robert Scoble’s post:
I’m seeing a ton of questions about these new verification badges so am sharing this with all of you.
My account has been verified. They didn’t ask me if that was OK. They didn’t ask me if I had any ID. I didn’t know before they turned it on.
But, the checkmark is there on my profile so you can see I’ve been verified as Google’s +Wen-Ai Yu discusses below.
Folks are asking how you get verified?
Right now you have to be a “celebrity” or “someone who has been followed by a lot of people.”
She hints that they will be rolling this out to more people soon, so you should probably comment on her post if you want to be verified for some reason.
Typically companies do this verification so new users coming into the system aren’t fooled by a fake Ashton Kutcher or something like that.
But I see another use: a new way to force us to behave. After all, if I stop behaving here they can pull my verification badge.
And I think that’s why these things are causing the angst I’m seeing. It’s a caste system and one that causes a new game to be put in place (how do we “level up?”)
Anyway, sorry for adding to the duplication noise for many of you who have already seen this.
No Google+ team members comment on Robert Scoble’s post by now, make clear that he is right. If you are not celebrities, public figures or people with lots of circlers, how to verify your Google+ profile? i think the only way to got a Google+ Profile verification badges, is to talk with Google+ team members on Google+ to let them make it happen.
Update:One of my Google+ friend Bony Wang,as a normal Google+ user, who had been verified today, told me that his account been blocked before,Google then opened his account after he present his Facebook page.Maybe show your Facebook page to Google is a good way to get a Profile verification badges, try that!
